Pantone Color Institute leaders frame it as “a lofty white that serves as a symbol of calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection.” Pantone’s Color of the Year program, launched in 1999 , has highlighted shades like Sand Dollar and Peach Fuzz in past years, but this is the first time in 26–27 years that a true white has taken the top spot.
