Valentino's Madison Avenue Boutique in New York became a living classroom this past week. From April 8–13, 2026 , the iconic Italian Maison hosted an exclusive in store exhibition showcasing its Specula Mundi Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2026 collection, brought to life under the Creative Direction of Alessandro Michele .
The event offered a rare opportunity to experience the artistry and couture soul of the Maison far beyond the runway. Valentino welcomed students from some of New York 's most prestigious design
institutions, including Pratt Institute School of Design , Parsons School of Design – The New School , Fashion Institute of Technology , New York School of Design , and Marist University , to explore the collection up close, bridging the world of haute couture with the next generation of creative talent.
A Collection Built on Contemplation Specula Mundi , Latin for "mirror of the world", debuted on January 28, 2026 , during Haute Couture Week in Paris , and has since been described as Alessandro Michele 's finest collection for Valentino to date.
Conceptually, the collection is a deliberate protest against the speed of the modern image cycle: instead of amplifying visibility, Michele chose to slow it down, inviting the viewer into a space of contemplation and proximity.
The collection draws on a rich visual genealogy, from Hollywood 's golden age sirens to sacred vestments, from literary heroines like Salomè and Salammbò to the cinematic iconography of Fritz Lang ' s Metropolis…
